ah, the smell of an old page. nothing could ever compare to a real book. as much as ryan liked the advancement of technology, he much rather enjoyed holding a book in his hands and feeling the crisp pages beneath his fingertips. it was more relaxing than a blaring screen, in his opinion. he sat back into the lounge chair a little more as he read, his eyes brushing over each word as he absorbed the story. one of his favorites, a tale of two cities. he had always loved dickens' works, and this one was a riveting one. he was so absorbed in his book that he hadn't noticed anyone approach him until he felt the brush of fabric against his arm. "o-oh, sorry, a-am i i-in y-your way?"

ruari was never good when it came to balance. the fact that she couldn't balance the books she had in her hands very well was a sure sign. the library was crowded for a weekend night, but she had still forced herself to come. she needed to work out the new syllabus for her classes that started in the new week. she found herself in the classical section of the library, eyes moving around as she attempted to find a place to put down her pile of books. of course, most of the tables in this particular area appeared to be filled up. but there was a small area over by that one boy reading a dicken's book. she mad her way over, tripping over her own feet in the process and tumbling with all her books to the ground. " ruari, you huge klutz " the english teacher muttered to herself as she pushed herself back up, realizing that she had brushed up against someone, who was in reach of hearing what she had said. a blush appeared over her cheeks at the thought of him hearing her talk to himself. " no! not at all! i didn't hit you with any of my books, did i? i can be such a klutz, i forget where my feet are sometimes " she said as she shook her head, piling her books up. she then let her eyes rest on the book he was reading once more. " a tale of two cities? i remember reading that in school. i was thinking about adding it to my syllabus for my class " the girl said as she piled her books up, brushing her mess of hair back, then taking a seat at the table beside the other person. " my name's ruari whelan. i'm a teacher at the high school here in sleepless " she greeted with a smile.

ooc: aaah sorry this is ridiculously late ;v; i'll make this pretty soon, computer in the library screws up my tables though.
oh, no! immediately, ryan felt a twinge of guilt run through his system as the red-headed girl tripped over herself. he rushed over to her side, attempting to help her up as best as he could. "a-ah, s-s-sorry! a-are you okay...?" she seemed to be picking herself up just fine, so ryan relaxed a little. he shook his head as she spoke, a blush forming on his own face out of habit. oh, this was awkward... he made every damn situation awkward, though. it was a curse. "i-it's okay, y-you seem m-more hurt th-than i was..." he chewed his bottom lip worriedly, wondering if this would be the end of the encounter. what else was there to say? he racked his brain, his hands nervously wringing together until she spoke. syllabus? "a-ah, this is one o-of my favorites..." he said softly, eyes downcast. she introduced herself as ruari. high school teacher. that made sense now. "o-oh, i'm r-ryan... i'm just a-an artist. i d-do freelance w-work..." he smiled nervously at her. "um... i-if you don't mind my a-asking... w-what books are on y-your c-c-curriculum...?" books were a passion of his. if he hadn't been an artist, he'd be a teacher.
