so talk of v5 is slowly starting to come around, and we really need to prepare for this major shift.
from what i'm understanding, all of our codes will go kaput. however, there's some sort of... code converter or something? i don't really know. i haven't yet been able to make a v5 test site, but it's up to you guys if you think it's even worth it.
jcink would probably be where we'd move to, if you all think we should. i dunno, i just love proboards the way it is and from what i've seen, this new stuff is really uggo :( but guys, please, if you don't or do want to move, speak up! or if you have an alternate idea, i wanna hear it <3
polls for this will close in like a week. once everyone gets a word in.

i don't have anything against jcink in fact, i can code it better. and the things i've heard about v5, i haven't been enjoying much. proboards is perfect the way it is now! ;w; i'm happy with whatever you pick. if we go with v5, i'll learn to get use to it. if we go with jcink, then i'm totally there <3

All I hear about v5 is that it is a total poot. I'd rather migrate over to jcink, if the code converter isn't used. It seems that's what everyone is doing these days. Everything will be over there before we know it. I think it would be a good learning experience for those who haven't used it yet.

bb, I will follow you to the end of the earth C: Also jcink is awesome, with its account switch and stuff. Not that hard to get used to, though the skinning is a bit odd.

i'm groovy with whatever you decide to stick with! i've never really dealt with v5, but i think i'd lean towards shiftin' over to jcink. hope this helps!

Personally, I don't mind what happens - I'll follow you wherever. While I do have issues with both v5 and Jcink, I can't say that I hate either of them as well. I come from an era where all you needed was justify and blockquote to keep people happy, none of this fancy coding crap coming out of someone's ass (because I still can't code apparently). Hell, that's not to say that I won't go back to it. I enjoy not having to stress over finding posting templates for everything.
From an administrative perspective, my personal preference would be to move to jcink. Version 5 is going to be too hard to deal with in the beginning and not a lot of staff are going to know what they're doing, especially with new control panel interfaces and a whole bunch of technical jargon that no one is going to understand right of the bat. It'd be easier to move now and perhaps in time come back to proboards after this whole thing has settled down.
As a side note, a lot of things roleplayers have been asking proboards to do for years (ie: quick switch for accounts) have been implemented into v5 and all we've done is complain about it. Just thought it seemed strange, then again we complain about everything left, right, and center because no matter what someone does it seems we're never happy with it.
