The first time Hazen came here was with his brother. He thought it would be funny to take his little shy brother out to the big bad neighbourhood. He remembered the flashing lights and all the calls to his elder brother. He had pressed himself to the other male and nuzzled his face into the other's shirt. His brother had only laughed, kept a strong arm around the little one and insisted he would never let anything bad happen to him. Of course he believed him. He was so sure his big brother would always be there. His hero, never let anything happen to him. Now he was gone. Who knew where. Every day he spent in this city, Hazen knew how little he knew of his brother. Many days he would be wondering around and stopped, called by his brother's name. It seemed Jackson had many friends, many with bad eyes. Well, not really. He looked so much like him. The same bright hazel eyes, slim body and every week he forgot to cut his hair, he got closer and closer to having the elder's shaggy blonde hair. Hell, he even had piercings going up both ears much like the other. Only thing he was missing was his brother's older, handsome features and deeper voice. Why was he thinking about him. Jackson wasn't coming back. Hazen already came to the conclusion his brother would never return. He was doomed. Doomed to a life of struggling to provide for himself. He was doing well so far - after all, he had gotten a hundred and thirty dollars tonight. All he had to do was accompany some older woman to her best friend's 'congrads for getting hitched you gold digger' dinner. It was nice, he got a warm meal and she wasn't too bad to be around. She had a nice sense of humour and only asked him to kiss her cheek and hold her hand, giving the image of a innocent and easily envied romance between them. That was his job. Pleasing women and making their friends believe a lie and hold her on a pedestal while he got paid under the table. How honourable. She had gone home quite a time ago, and Hazen was left alone in his nice dress pants, pressed button up and a pack of her smokes he lifted from her purse. Leaning up against a wall, a bit away from the street light, the burning end cast more light over the lost in thought male. He didn't fear this place any more. He knew people. He knew who was lost, who were trying to act tough in this terrifying place, and who to avoid. The fear was also settled by the small pocket knife in his pocket. Fun nights.

Poppy hated making deliveries to the Red Light District. It was located on the outskirts of town, was nearly impossible to comfortably navigate on bike, and the customers picked the most inconvenient times to want their packages to be delivered. Why would they want their designated devices brought to them right before they got to business, she often wondered. Wouldn't someone just coming a-knocking at the door just kill the entire mood? There's nothing kinky about going through the motions of signing off a package. Or having the poor, unfortunate deliverer open it for them (and feel rather uncomfortable) as they verify that it was, indeed, the very item they ordered.
The blonde was unfortunate to learn the true intentions of tonight's customer as she tucked away the generous tip he gave her. She'd delivered to the man multiple times before and he was looking to get her in on whatever little adventure he was about to have in his hotel room. It took her some effort to keep her face from contorting into an expression of disgust. By no means was Poppy a prude, but she was never bright on the idea of getting that up close and personal with someone she didn't even know. She was especially about the idea of canoodling with someone that looked old enough to be her father. She shook her head in a quick no, adjusted her shades, and power walked her way out of the fancy love hotel.
From the way the main roads looked, she could tell that getting out of the place was going to be something of a challenge, so she walked her bike towards the back ways and fiddled around with her GPS. She normally didn't need to depend on the little contraption, but the RL District wasn't a place she took the time to familiarize herself with. One of the other couriers covered the area religiously. Probably for easy sex, she once heard around dispatch. She didn't give much of a care, everyone had to get their rocks off somehow.
Finally having her course set, she looked up from her GPS to be greeted by a plume of cigarette smoke. For these kinds of reasons, Poppy was thankful for her habit of always keeping her eyes covered. "Hey, try smoking with the wind, not against it," she coughed, still waving away some of that smoke to find herself squinting at a face she best recognized in the dark. "Ugh. Haven't I told you once that smoking cigarettes just makes your mouth taste like crap?"

They were a blessing because there was always something to do, new faces to see and no day was the same. The curse was related towards the people. Cities went two ways with people. Either there was someone you would rather see get hit by a car than bump into, and they were the people you saw everywhere you went. Hazen knew this feeling too fucking well towards a certain ghost gijinka. The other, were people you desperately wanted to see and never got the chance.
Yet tonight was lucky for Hazen. Instead of that ghost he wanted to set on fire, he was greeted by a beautiful angel. Slowly grinning, Hazen stared at the delivery girl before tap the smoke so some ashes fell. "I didn't expect anyone to be tasting my mouth tonight. If you want, I'l get quite a handful of gum so I can give you a minty kiss babe.". He gave her a wink before stepping towards the girl and grabbing her hand to lift it, bowing his head in a polite greeting. "Evening, my favourite flower~" [/style] |

It was a bit of a surprise for Poppy to run into Hazen. A pleasant one? She wasn't exactly sure yet. While the young man was one of her favourite booty calls, he was, in polite terms, something of a ham. A ham topped with the thickest of cheese that would make someone unfortunate enough to be lactose intolerant die from simply looking at it.
Goodness, that was bad analogy. Maybe even terrible. And just maybe... Terribad.
"No one ever said you were, I was just telling you what's what. No one likes the taste of an ashtray, Haze Miller." She replied to his pomp with her usual 'flowery' attitude. She wasn't one for pleasantries or idle chitchat; everything must be to the point. "Uh huh. So, what are you doing down here tonight? I just finished dropping off a package at the hotel down the way. Some old fart tried to drag me into an orgy or whatever right in the middle of a drop. What even. Y'know?

Hazen didn't like to disclose his job to others - more so those whom knew his name. Keeping the information to himself, he merely smiled and kept her hand in his, trying to pull the woman closer. He loved being close to such a beautiful girl. ".. I think that is hardly the matter. Not when, clearly, a beautiful dansel is in need of saving from the dirty savages of the night. Why don't we ditch this place? I'll take you to a nice dinner and we can have awkward small talk over drinks.". His smile didn't fade as he attempted to wrap an arm around the girl's waist and let his voice drop. "We can do much more pleasant things than what that man wanted.". [/style] |
