When it came to food, Kohaku always made lots. With a smile, he nodded to the other and kissed the other's forehead before taking his hand and trying to lead the other back into the dinner. When he did, he motioned Kaizer to sit before calling out to the children. In the other room, Minky heard the call and sat up quickly. He fixed his clothing and gave her a soft pout. But he really liked the bird.. but Mink never argued. He just nodded, let Sparrow be right. Though the teeth did make him squirm, a tad anxious, before tugging her along to dinner. "Food!"

Before sitting at the table, Kohaku zipped up his jacket just to his collarbone and took his seat. The food was all ready on the table, but he waited until the children entered the room. He helped Mink into his chair and smiled at him, kissing the child's hair as he giggled, smoothing down the blonde hair before grabbing one of the serving spoons and helping the child fill his plates. A slice of meatloaf, lots of peas, greenbeans and mashed potato's - in a tiny volcano with gravy. Mink gave a polite, but light thank you while Kohaku looked to Kaizer. "Do you need any help ..?"

"Kaizer I told you that you are always welcome here for anything. Be it food, need some time with a friend, or just want to sleep somewhere not home.". He offered a gentle smile before pouring himself a small glass from the pitcher on the table. There were two, he explained, one was leamonaid - the one he got - and another with iced tea. Of course, he winked at Sparrow, offering her juice or pop. He only allowed Mink pop during special dinners. Mink happily drank his iced tea before nibbling at his veggies. Mink knew to always eat his veggies before anything else - that was most important. Daddy always told him to eat all his greens because he would grow up big and like his papa. Squirming in his seat, he peered at his father who ruffled up his hair.

He didn't even like his own house. It was small with one bedroom, one bed, a broken bathtub and no electricity. He couldn't afford the bill for that. He didn't even call it home. A lot of the time, when Kaizer said he was going home, he ended up here in Kohaku's house. He was a little ashamed about that. He mashed his potatoes further, squishing butter into the mix as he stared at his plate, but managed a whisper, "I don't want to waste your time, Kohaku. I know you're a busy man with a very busy schedules. What with your job, and your studies... and your son."
Sparrow was staring wide eyed at the choices laid before her, as if this was the biggest decision of her years. She furrowed her eyebrows in thought, her knuckles growing white from gripping the fork too hard. Then, suddenly, she shoved the fork forward, using it to point at the lemonade. She wanted that one! Iced tea was boring, but she loved lemons. [/style] |

I have told you time and time again. This home is your home. Come here whenever you please - I offered you a key!" He smiled at the other, reaching over to pat the man's hand before starting to eat his food. While eating, he looked over at Mink, making sure the child got enough greens. "Really, think about it if you get the time.". [/style] |

He worried that it would be an invasion of Kohaku's privacy. What if he walked in on something he really didn't need to see? He didn't want to become dependent on Kohaku. He was old enough that he should have been able to overcome his problems himself- whether those problems were money, food or a house. Sparrow seemed to be listening, despite the potatoes she was digging into and wearing on her face. "I wanna live here. I don't like our house," Sparrow whispered, her feet kicking beneath her as she stared at her plate and poked at the veggies. She knew she had to eat them. Kaizer winced at her words and turned his gaze away. "Sparrow... please..." [/style] |

I told you - I would not mind if you lived here. I respect your desire for your own place however. Just, if you ever want, you can stay here whenever you need. I rather you keep that key for emergencies, if not to use daily." He sighed after, winded. Kohaku didn't like to talk this much. The man fell silent, eating now as he focused on his food.
He didn't mind. He even offered his own partner to move in, but then too, he was turned down. Kohaku felt selfish, relying on Mink to give him company. He was a man, he was the child's company, not vice versa. He merely grew lonely easily - hated a cold, empty bed - but his current company often gave him the third degree for his open ways and KOhaku kept these words close to heart. He shouldn't seek out others. He was too old for that game, he had a growing child and a job. It was better to stay home, focus on his papers. Sometimes the man was merely selfish though - he missed having a large group. Many to talk to, to sit and laugh with. Mh. He smiled, looking to Kaizer, then Sparrow. "Either way, is it cooked well enough?" [/style] |

But he couldn't keep saying no to Kohaku, not when his baby girl kept begging him to say yes. But they had a home already. And he worked his rear off to keep it. Was all that going to be for nothing? "When dinner is done, you can find me the key. I'll keep it on me. Just in case. For emergencies," the young man repeated his friend's suggestion. He'd caved. Not enough to move in with Kohaku, but enough that he might be seen around the house more often when Kohaku returned home from work. He might have visitors. A little girl and her father. Though Kaizer would feel guilty without asking permission to enter first.
"I'm gonna eat it all up! It's gonna make me suuuuuper fat," Sparrow cackled with delight, her fork still in her mouth with food as she spoke. It was a good sign that she enjoyed how it was cooked. Sparrow was rarely too picky. The exception being her vegetables. She ate them, but she still didn't like the majority of them. Daddy said they'd make her grow up like all the pretty ladies in town, so of course she had to eat them all up. [/style] |

A soft one, nodding. He could accept that. He still wanted the other to move in, but perhaps it was the best. They weren't in college. Kaizer was a man. There was a chance he would meet a woman, fall in love. Want to have a deep relationship, and it's hard to do such a thing when you share a home with another person. Kohaku knew that one. It was a battle to have a date with Mink around.
Not that he dated. Ever. He was over that. Though, to fit the thoughts in his mind. "I'm glad you like it sweetheart. ..so, any gossip about daddy~? has he been having any pretty friends over?" [/style] |

It was a silly question. The girl was giggling as he head shook. "No way! Daddy doesn't let anyone in the house but me and him and you and Minky," she explained with a quick nod. She couldn't recall anyone else ever being there- with the exception of the babysitter for the one hour after school that Kaizer couldn't look after his baby.
Kaizer's face seemed bright red at the question the man was asking his daughter. Both of his eyes were narrowed as he stared at him with suspicion. "Pardon me, Kohaku, but I don't think that's any of your business to begin with! Much less a question you should be addressing to her rather than myself," the boy scoffed in disbelief. But Sparrow was right. No one came into their house, pretty or not. Kaizer didn't get company. He didn't look for any. [/style] |

"I am only teasing you. I know you do not bring company around. Sadly - you really need to get out more Kazier. Maybe I should take you out on the town one night. Have some drinks and find some mature, calm company to keep with for the short bit of night we stay out?" He asked, but it was going to happen. When Kohaku asked something, it was more of a question to himself than the other. Because Once the idea was in his head, it was never going to leave. [/style] |

There is little more I need than you," Kaizer scoffed, his eyes rolling back, his fork poking at his meal as he wore a stern frown on his face. He didn't like when people got close to him. It made him feel claustrophobic and as though his safety was at risk. Why did he need more than what he already had? Kaizer had Sparrow and Kohaku. He was content. He didn't need to go out and drink around strangers. He never knew the outcome. It's why no one ever found Kaizer trying anything new- 'cause he was so scared.
Kaizer's fork scratched against the plate as he had nearly finished his food, trying to pile the last of it together to finish off. His gaze didn't lift once, not to see how Sparrow was doing with her meal, and not to look Kohaku in the eyes. "If you're wanting me to drink that badly, at least allow me to do it in the safety of your home. Who knows what could happen to me out there?" He could end up kidnapped. What if someone date rape drugged his drink? What if he got stuck in an awful fight? Or maybe Kaizer would turn out to be an awful drinker- such as abusive or foul. He didn't want to know. If he were going to have a drink, he didn't want to remember it come morning. [/style] |
